Not waiting for the Michigan Supreme Court to act, Americans for Citizen Voting-Michigan filed an emergency application with the U.S. Supreme Court. Justice Kavanaugh responded today requesting a response from the State Board of Canvassers, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Director of Elections Jonathan Brater by noon, September 2.

The Michigan Board of State Canvassers deadlocked over certifying a ballot petition from Americans for Citizen Voting. A deadlocked vote automatically means the petition failed to be certified. Supporters vow to fight on.

Supporters of the Americans for Citizen Voting ballot initiative are scrambling to get the required number of signatures certified. The Board of State Canvassers will decide today.
