Michigan Fair Elections Institute (MFEI) is launching an online publication called the Monthly QVF Change Report.

Every month, the Michigan Department of State updates its list of registered voters. The list is called the Qualified Voter File and represents a list of Michigan residents who are qualified to vote. Michigan Fair Elections Institute, in cooperation with data management expert Tim Vetter (former Check My Vote co-owner), obtains access to the monthly, updated data. Beginning this month, MFEI will be publishing its analysis of month-to-month changes in the QVF.

Isaac Hampshire, who manages the publication, says, “The Monthly QVF Change Report is meant to identify month-to-month QVF changes and explain what the changes might mean. It also can help keep the voter list accurate and draw attention to ways the data system could be better.”

Hampshire points out that the analysis is not meant to accuse any person or organization or illegal behavior or malicious intent but rather to highlight registrations which may have been placed on the QVF by mistake via automated systems.

“Our purpose is to help clerks, and others, spot data anomalies. Since the report is broken down by county, clerks can quickly check our report for any issues that we’ve identified in their jurisdiction,” said Hampshire.

“Michigan Fair Elections Institute’s Clerk Advocacy Program is a major participant in this important initiative,” explained MFEI Founder and Chair Patrice Johnson. “Michigan voters are concerned about the accuracy of the QVF, and MFEI wants to help clerks clarify where the problems lie.”

The monthly reports will be posted on the clerk page of MFEI’s website. You can find the September report HERE.

We reached our goal!

THANK YOU generous, grassroots donors!

Your gifts enable MFEI to undertake important FOIA denial lawsuits, which each cost about $10,000.

When we win the case, legal fees should be refunded.  This money may allow us to pursue multiple government accountability lawsuits.
